And here we go…

As I write on my About page, the idea for Serf ‘76 has been in my head and heart for more than 20 years. Finding a way to express myself creatively, and make a statement through words is truly a dream come true. With the advent of Print on Demand, and seamless e-commerce integrations, it’s like the digital world finally laid the yellow brick road for my very analog mind to bring my ideas to life.

Indeed, while this site is very personal for me, I hope it connects with others, too. Whether it’s the creativity of one of my designs, or a powerful quote that makes someone think differently about something, one thing I know for sure: I’m not afraid to make a statement.

I grew up at the tail end of Generation X. A time when alternative culture, self-reliance, and breaking boundaries defined a new wave of creative expression. It’s a generation of youth that I don’t think I appreciated as much then, as I do now. As I reflect in one of my designs, there are many moments I find myself feeling like I’m an analog girl living in a digital world. I grew up watching Cheers on an appliance the size of a stove. Now I can watch those same episodes on a device the size of a wallet from anywhere that has an Internet connection. At times it still blows my mind.

As a graphic designer, I’ve witnessed design trends come and go, but my designs have always been rooted in a timeless appreciation for typography, minimalism, and bold colors. I hope that my passion for aesthetics, coupled with a keen eye for detail, inspires fun, creative and unique designs that can stand alone in the highly-saturated, very competitive e-commerce world.

Serif ‘76 represents my journey and it isn’t just about selling products — it’s about creating a community. I hope this shop will become a platform where customers can connect with the values and principles that drive her designs. Every product in the shop has an intention— making a buyer think, inspire, laugh, vent or reflect.

Thank you for stopping by. Come back often. I’m having fun around here. I hope you will too. — Jody
